Back when I was still in college, the cellphone and text messaging craze was just beginning. People buy the latest phones, discarding their old one even if they’re just a month old. I, on the other hand, lasted 3 years without getting a new one because 1) I’d rather spend my money on other things and 2) my sister pays my monthly bill. So even if I’m using an ancient 5110, I can spend 3 hours yakking on the phone with my best friend in between classes.

It was stolen in 2002. Why would anyone steal an ancient dinosaur of a phone is beyond me. I never bought a new phone to replace it, nor did I ask for one. The only phone I bought for myself was the K750. We all know what happened to that.

Now I’m back toting my dream phone of 2001. Not really because I miss having a phone, but rather because my mom wants me to use the phone my dad took from my brother. Yeah.

The scary thing is, it felt so natural to have a phone.

I want to vomit up all this Catholic shit and choose my own thoughts! Choose a Holy Mother who is strong, who thinks for herself and is brave as hell. I want to blot out all those white-bearded tired-ass old men and pray to a gorgeous woman who crushes snakes with her bare feet. You just watch it: She’s the only one who’ll set us free. One of these days I’m just going to quit praying to God. I’m going to pray only to a strong and sassy Mary. Only to her. Am I crazy? Does anyone else think like this?
